[x_custom_headline type=”left” level=”h4″ looks_like=”h4″]The key to the Christian life is your thoughts. It all begins there, because the key to whether you are spiritual or carnal is in your mind. And the key to whether or not you are clear on the will of God for your life, or completely confused and lost, is all dependent on if you will renew your mind to God’s Word.[/x_custom_headline]

[x_blockquote cite=”Colossians 3:1-2 KJV” type=”left”]“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”[/x_blockquote]

We are to seek those things above. The word “seek” in this verse means: to pursue; to aim at; to strive after

We are to pursue all we are and all we have in Christ Jesus continually.

We are to see ourselves after the battle, not in it. In other words we fight the battle knowing the outcome, we win. We are to see ourselves experiencing the final outcome of each and every thing we deal with in life.

[highlight]Several years ago when my three sons were younger, I took them to an amusement park.[/highlight] This particular park had a huge maze made of wooden fences about eight feet high. But what was interesting about this maze, is that there was an observation tower you could climb into to watch those who were attempting to find their way through the maze.

From the inside of the maze, it was very difficult to know which way to go to find the exit. But from the observation tower it was very easy to see how to get through the maze and find the exit. In fact, from that vantage point, it didn’t look that hard at all.

We have been seated with Christ in Heavenly places. Or we could say, we have been seated with Christ in the observation tower where we can see much more clearly how to overcome and find the exit to many of the issues of our day-to-day life.

Setting our affection on things above is a command, not a suggestion. We are to set our minds on things above. In other words, our focus, our attention, and our thoughts must be on the things in heaven, the things of the Lord. But we can only do this through the written Word of God.

[x_custom_headline type=”center” level=”h4″ looks_like=”h4″ accent=”true”]TWO WAYS OF THINKING[/x_custom_headline]

[x_blockquote cite=”Isaiah 55:7-9 KJV” type=”left”]“7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”[/x_blockquote]

In the Christian life there are two ways to think:

  • There is human reasoning and divine reasoning.
  • There is a human view point and a divine view point.

We often look at the Christian life as outward action, but God also looks upon the heart. He looks at what we are thinking.

If we will set our focus, our attention, our minds, our thoughts on things above, before long we will be thinking His thoughts and no longer thinking on a lower level. This is how we get out of the maze of confusion and bewilderment. But again, we accomplish this by feeding on the written Word of God.

[x_blockquote cite=”Colossians 3:2 KJV” type=”left”]“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”[/x_blockquote]

He didn’t say ignore things of this earth. But what he doesn’t want you to do is let those things possess your thoughts.

There are things going on all around us but we are to set our attention on what the Word of God says, and what the Holy Spirit is doing.

[x_custom_headline type=”center” level=”h4″ looks_like=”h4″ accent=”true”]YOU CAN TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR THOUGHTS[/x_custom_headline]

[x_blockquote cite=”2 Corinthians 10:4-5 KJV” type=”left”]“4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”[/x_blockquote]

Thoughts are not bigger than you are; you are bigger than your thoughts.

You can control your thoughts. According to the Word of God you can pull down wrong thoughts and gain control over them. And we’ve been given weapons to do just that.

So don’t live another day in the maze of uncertainty, wondering what to do, and wandering around in hopelessness. Take the Word of God and renew your mind with it. And then enjoy the life God has planned for you, living outside of the maze of life.
