You have to ask yourself how many years do you want to wait to have in your life what God has promised you.

Far too many Christians are doing without the very things that Jesus has already provided them; things He has already promised them in His Word were theirs. However, there is often a misbelief that if God wants me to have something then it will automatically happen. But it won’t.

You will have to not only know exactly what God has promised you in His Word, but you will also have to go after it by faith.

Just imagine for a moment, doing without something that you desperately needed, year after year after year, and then suddenly you find out it already belongs to you, and is rightfully yours. And to follow that through, think about all of the many miserable days you would have spent enduring a hopeless situation, when all along what you needed to totally eradicate your problem had been yours, but you simply did not know about it. This is exactly the situation we find in Luke chapter thirteen, with a woman who had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen long, gloomy, agonizing years.

[blockquote cite=”Luke 13:10-16 KJV” type=”left”]“10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. 11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. 12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. 13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. 14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day. 15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? 16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?”[/blockquote]

Religion has no answers. Religion is far more interested in its protocol and formulas, than it is about people. So when Jesus arrives on the scene, His focus becomes the needs of this women, and what He knew already belonged to her.

So Jesus pointed out to her, and to those in the synagogue that day, that this women should be loosed, because she had a covenant right to be healed.
There were Old Testament promises that assured her that healing belonged to her, just as there are New Testament promises that assure you of the same thing today. So there was no reason for this woman to spend another eighteen years infirm, when there was a promise for her to be free.

Sadly, not one minister at this synagogue ever taught her what was rightfully hers, and what had been hers all along. And I am equally sad to report, that many ministers today aren’t doing a much better job with teaching those in their congregations what God has promised to them either.

Add to that the great dilemma that most Christians today almost never read their Bible, except at church, so they never discover what God has promised them through their own study of the Word either. And so they wait, day after day, month after month, and year after year, to see if anything about their horrible circumstances will ever change. And usually, it never does.

As a daughter of Abraham, this woman who was bound with this spirit of infirmity, had legal rights to be healed and delivered from this evil thing that had crippled her body. There were already promises in effect that promised her health and freedom. But until the promises of God are known, and then acted on by faith, nothing ever changes.

[blockquote cite=”Psalm 103:1-5 KJV” type=”left”]“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”[/blockquote]

The promises of God contains God’s benefits for His people. So to ever experience and enjoy His benefits, you must first know what He has promised. Because the promises of God are the will of God for your life today. It’s not a “maybe” thing, or a “sometimes” thing. The promises of God represent exactly what God wants to happen in your life right now.

Some Christians have heard the promises of God, but never chose to use their faith for those promises to come to pass in their life. So nothing ever changes for them. And then there are those Christians who have forgotten the Lord’s benefits, which are His promises, so they live without them in their lives.

So then you must ask yourself, how long do I want to wait until I pursue the promises of God, and activate my faith to receive them? In fact, why would you wait even one more day?

The promises of God already belong to you!

[blockquote cite=”John 1:12 KJV” type=”left”]“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”[/blockquote]

You are a child of God if you have received Jesus Christ. This means that you are a part of His family, and part of the household of God. So then whatever is part of the estate already belongs to you.

You don’t have to beg because you are God’s very own child. You are His and He is yours. And all that He has is yours! So why would you want to wait and continue doing without what Jesus has already provided for you?

As a citizen of the Kingdom of God, you have legal rights to everything that Jesus has provided for you. But who is going to enforce your rights? The answer to that is, you are. In fact, if you don’t do it, you will wait forever to get what God has already promised is yours.

So get into the Word of God. Find every single promise that God has made to you about your marriage, your family, your health and healing, your finances, your future, and more. Then feed on those promises all day, every day, until your faith begins to soar. Then begin to speak those promises over your life. Act on the Word of God, and soon you will find that the waiting is over.
